I'm sorry I haven't been on here in a while. Back in April my mother fell, (she lives alone) and was on the floor for twelve hours, until she was able to reach her phone to call 911.
From the hospital stay, she was moved to rehab, which she fell again, I flew out there first week of June to help her. The middle of June she went home with the doctors saying you can't live alone anymore. She and I were both devastated. I know she loves her independence; and she just turned 85 the end of July.
While home she developed Lymphedema

Definition: Lymphedema is swelling that's caused by a collection of too much lymph fluid. It usually affects your arms and legs, but it can happen in other parts of your body as well. This swelling can cause pain and limit movement in the affected area. It may also make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.

While I was there, she refused to sleep in her bed and slept in her recliner. I would have to help her with the walker to get out of said chair. Her legs had gotten worse when she was sent home, claiming it was her salt intake and put her on salt pills. it got so bad moving her legs and feeling them seep. I hated to see her in pain. I had to send her to the hospital and my brother wasn't too happy, because our mother made him medical power of attorney. I left on July 6th with my brother there and he was in charge of finding her two caregivers for her. One for morning and the other for night, each staying about 3 hours each. She was still in the hospital when I left. My brother is buying a house near her, so he can be there. As of today, she's back in the rehab, from being in the hospital. the night caregiver said, "Betty your legs look really bad, and the sores are open" She called 911 had her taken to the ER. See get well with antibiotic and then sent to rehab because she can't walk and then she goes home, and it starts all over again. I'm just afraid that it will not be too much longer. I hope and pray she lives longer to see her two beautiful Great-Grandbabies.
I know this is a lot and many will not read, but please keep her in your prayers.
Thanks
